This book introduces us to all the female characters of a galaxy far, far away.All illustrations are done by female artists and we're shown the diversity and beauty of digital art styles.I absolutely love it!

The first thing that strikes me about this book is how beautifully made it is. Thick hardcovers, dustjacket, solid binding -- the physical production values are great.The second thing that strikes me is that there is no Mara Jade, Bastila Shan, Mission Vao, Meetra Surik or Satele Shan. This is not because novels, comics and video games are excluded, because they're not. Doctor Aphra from recent comics is there. Iden Versio from recent video games is there. But prior to, say, 2014, only the main movies seem to exist as far as this book is concerned. Episodes 1-8 are covered, as are Rogue One and Solo. Also, Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars The Clone Wars are heavily represented in the book, so if you're a fan of those you will probably be very happy.The reason behind the exclusion of important characters from earlier on is probably the 2014 reboot of the Star Wars ancillary stories and Lucasfilm's desire to enforce that decision. I think this book would have been better if that decision had not been enforced, as there are many amazing characters who featured into the Star Wars saga prior to 2014 that would have enriched this book immensely. Having said that, this book is still pretty great and I have no hesitation in giving it the full five stars.If they did a follow-up book that focused on the pre-2014 characters, I would snap it up in a heartbeat.
